Construction has resumed in downtown Gaylord.  This is part two of the new downtown streetscape; it should be really nice when done mid- summer. Unlike last summer, this year's construction should have minimal impact on your ability to get to Delphine's any time you want.

And so the Orange Barrel Adventure begins - Have a FREE passport stamped at 12 shops and be entered into a drawing for $100.00, $75.00, or $50.00 in DMA bucks to spend at the shop(s) of your choice.

Our new store point of sale system is operating smoothly and we've come a long way up the learning curve on it. Most items we carry are now available on the website as well as in the store. Check it out at www.delphinesquiltshop.com!

The new Comfort Quilters Club met for the first time last month and was very well received. This group meets on the second Thursday of the month and will be sewing smaller quilts (approx. 40” x 60” lap quilts) for the veterans who apply for aid at the Otsego County Veterans Affairs office.

Diane is heading up this Club.  Hopefully you can join Diane on the second Thursday and join Judy on the third Thursday for the Quilts of Valor Club.  Perhaps you have a friend that you would like to invite to help out?  We need your help so please come to sew on one or both days.

 BLOCK OF THE MONTH Programs

Delphine’s is currently offering three Blocks of the Month programs; Fern Hill from Moda, Crossroads from Windham Fabrics and Forest Floor from Timeless Treasures (batik).  Prices are per month (shipping is extra) for the duration of the program.  No cancellations will be allowed. You must sign up using a credit card.   After the initial deposit, your card will not be charged until the fabric is shipped out to you each month.

Forrest Floor

Wing and a Prayer Designs for Timeless Treasures

Starting Now!  The program lasts 12 months at $18.99 each month

The 2017 Tonga Forest Floor collection is a palette of light to dark autumn hues. The Forest Floor quilt is a twist on tradition featuring twelve, 12" blocks for monthly handout nestled in a log cabin setting. Both novice and skilled quilters will enjoy piecing this luscious Forest Floor quilt. The large stamped batik leaves let the fabric do the work for you enhancing the Forest Floor theme. An easy pieced border frames the quilt interior showing off the beautiful blend of all the colors replacing a standard border.

Fern Hill

by Jan Patek for Moda

This charming quilt measures 76" x 80" when finished.  The program lasts 12 months at $18.99 each month for the fabric (including binding) and the instructions.   A deposit of $18.99 will be used to pay for the 12th installment.

Shipping is $5.00 per month additional for those not able to pick up their packages.

Crossroads

by Ashley Newcomb and instructions by Heidi Pridemore

This finished quilt measures 67" x 76" and is all pieced with no appliqué. The program will last 6 months at the cost of $29.99 per month which includes the fabric for the top and binding and the instructions.  A deposit of $29.99 will be applied to the 6th installment.

Your monthly kit will contain a pattern and fabrics for that month's section of the quilt. The final month will include the last border and binding. This block of the month starts with the inside blocks and works its way out, like a medallion quilt.  If you sew each month as it comes in, then you are set to be completely finished when the last month's fabrics arrive!  I love the idea of being able to see it come together each month!

Heart of the Pines Quilt Guild of Gaylord is holding a spring membership drive.  If you've been wanting to learn more about quilting or if you are new to quilting, please join us.  Our annual dues are only $24.  We meet the first Tuesday each month at the Diocesan Pastoral Center in Gaylord.  Beginning at 1:00 pm, we gather for the afternoon Sit N Sew.  You can bring any project to work on and spend the afternoon sewing with friends.  At 5:00pm we hold a pre-meeting project.   This is a simple project chosen by a member that can be completed in about 90 minutes. We've done a lot of cute and fun projects. At 6:30 we eat dinner together, usually provided by the Guild.  Our regular meeting begins at 7:00.  You can come for any or all of the above activities.   We get to learn new things and be with great and talented people who have the love of quilting in common.  Watch this newsletter for some new and exciting activities being planned for the next few months.

Please contact Kathy Williams at 989-732-6303 or Linda West at 541-999-5536 if you have any questions or would  like to register.  Our next meeting is on June 6. See you there!
